VASSAR GOALKEEPER SIGNS FOR RCNJ

Real Central NJ Soccer announced the signing of Eric Wnorowski for the 2022 season, pending league and federation approval. In 2021, the Vasser goalkeeper recorded 9 shutouts in 17 matches and was named All-Liberty League First Team and Liberty League All-Academic Team. The 21-year-old will be playing in USL League Two for the first time in his career.

“I’m really excited for the season,” said Wnorowski. “It’s going to be an intense and fast paced environment and I’m ready for the challenge. I’m going to take the opportunity to learn from the players and coaches that I’ll be around.”

Prior to attending Vassar, Wnorowski played for Christian Brothers Academy where he won two Non Public A State Championships in three years. In 2018, he captained the Colts to a division, section and state title. Wnorowski also captained his youth club, Wall Soccer Club. He is one of three 2000’s born players to play U-8 to U-19 with WSC Elite Sting.

“Having keepers who will both fight for a starting spot will be important for us,” says Men’s General Manager Ira Jersey. “Eric gives us championship experience and he’s coming off a great collegiate season. We’re looking forward to seeing what he brings this summer.”

USL League Two is a pre-professional soccer league that allows elite college talent to play at a highly competitive level in the NCAA off-season. League Two is known for giving players a stepping stone to the professional game.

“I tried out for a few League Two teams in the winter, and I just thought RCNJ would be the best fit,” said Wnorowski. “It’s a chance for me to test myself at the next level. With a couple of years of eligibility left, I definitely think going pro is a possibility for me.”

Wnorowski and RCNJ will open the 2022 USL League Two season at Philadelphia Lone Star on May 14th. The men’s will host the Ocean City Nor’Easters on May 21st for its home opener at Mercer County Community college.
