Real Central NJ Soccer today announced the signing of Rider forward Justin Ruffino for the 2022 USL League Two season, pending league and federation approval. In 2021, he appeared in 17 matches for the Broncs and tallied one goal and one assist. The 20-year-old will be playing in League Two for the first time in his career.
“I had a lot of fun at tryouts and I think RCNJ is a great fit for me,” said Ruffino. “I want to help the club make a name for itself and compete against the teams like Ocean City and West Chester.”
Ruffino played for Washington United for the majority of his youth career. He played high school soccer for Pitman after transferring from Washington Township his junior year. Pitman won their division in both seasons Ruffino played, tallying 42 goals and 15 assists.
“We’re happy that he chose to play for us,” said coach Brian Woods. “He has a lot of leadership qualities we are looking for and he can play a few different positions on the field.”
USL League Two is a pre-professional soccer league that allows elite college talent to play at a highly competitive level in the NCAA off-season. League Two is known for giving players a stepping stone to the professional game.
“Going professional wasn’t always something I thought I could do,” said Ruffino. “Now I would love to play professionally. I am willing to work hard to get there.”
Ruffino and RCNJ will open the 2022 USL League Two season at Philadelphia Lone Star on May 14th. The men will host the Ocean City Nor’Easters on May 21st for its home opener at Mercer County Community College.
