(Central New Jersey) Wednesday, June 12, 2024—Real Central NJ (RCNJ) scored three first-half goals and held on to win its second match of the season at Rider University's Ben Cohen fields on Wednesday night. After a very strong three-goal first half, RCNJ couldn't finish multiple chances and LVU was able to pull back two goals, but the home side held possession for much of the last five minutes to see out the match.

“We needed and deserved this win,” said Men's Sporting Director Ira Jersey. “We've had some tough losses from winning positions the last few matches, but we're still giving away too many late goals. Something the technical staff is working to avoid going forward.”

  • RCNJ - Hugo Cakurda (Curt Calov) 13th minute: Hugo Cakurda received a high chipped through ball from Curt Calov in the middle of the D, which was settled nicely by Cakurda and finished in the bottom right of the net. RCNJ 1, LVUR 0

  • RCNJ - Justin Brunow (Hugo Cakurda) 30th minute: RCNJ worked the ball down the center of the pitch with one and two-touch passes, the ball found Cakurda who turned while being fouled, the Referee played advantage as the pass left Brunow 1v1 with the LVU left back. Brunow faked left, then turned right and finished right-footed to the bottom left corner from a tight angle. RCNJ 2, LVUR 0

  • RCNJ - Luke Pompliano 45th minute: RCNJ made a long clearance following a corner kick toward the right side of the pitch where Pompliano took a great first touch allow him to turn around a defender at midfield and found himself on the break. An LVU defender recovered and slid just as Pompliano took the shot from just inside the 18. The deflected shot arched up and over the goalkeeper into the far-side netting. RCNJ 3, LVUR 0

  • LVUR - Rian Mundy (Landon Bealer) 70th minute: Bealer took down a long switch and drove to the end line, being able to barely keep the ball in play and hit a low cross back into the 6-yard box which found the foot of Mundy who slotted the ball under Goalkeeper Eddie DeMarco. RCNJ 3, LVUR 1

  • LVUR - Wilson Biblano (Landon Bealer) 82nd minute: Another cross-field ball finds a wide-open Bealer who is able to find Bibliano just inside the penalty arch. Bibloano makes a great turn and finishes left-footed low and just under a diving DeMarco. RCNJ 3, LVUR 2

The player of the match was defender Martin Chladek (#32 pictured above). Holding down the back line for 70 scoreless minutes and his leadership was key to maintaining the lead and ultimately the win. This is Chladek's second PotM performance of the season.

The RCNJ Men play the reverse fixture to Wednesday's match away at Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA on Saturday, June 15 at 7 pm. The RCNJ Women are away on Monday, June 17th at the Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals.

The next home match will be a men’s USL2 match against West Chester United on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, 7 pm at Rider University’s Ben Cohen Field. Purchase Match-day tickets and season passes on the Real Central NJ Soccer website.
