(Ewing, NJ) - Christian Coridon, a left-sided attacker, signed for the region's newest pre-professional soccer club Real Central NJ Soccer (RCNJ). The Hightstown native joins his brother Christopher (aka Topher) for the club’s inaugural men’s roster. The men's team will play in USL League Two beginning May 2021. Nearly two-thirds (49 of 75 picks) of last month’s Major League Soccer draft picks had experience playing the league. The signing is pending league and federation approval.
efore joining the team for the league’s May kickoff, the 22-year-old Haitian American, was called up to the 50 man provisional Olympic qualifying roster of the Haitian U23 Men’s National Team which ended up being postponed due to the pandemic. Now Coridon will have a chance to compete for a spot on the Haitian Futsal national team, which will begin Concacaf World Cup qualifiers this spring in Guatemala.
Coridon, a 2020 graduate of Robert Morris University, played in 52 matches for the school’s NCAA Division 1 soccer program.
“My family basically brought me up playing soccer,” says Coridon. “The dream is keeping myself moving toward the goal of playing soccer for a living. Having a team like Real Central NJ so close to home is going to be great.”
Previously he played in the NPSL side Hershey FC where he was the team’s top scorer and earned All-Conference and All-Region Best XI honors. He would have played for West Chester United last year in the canceled USL League Two season.
“Christian is a player that we anticipate providing us width in our attack down the left side,” Head Coach Patrick Snyder said. “It's great to have former CVC standouts like Christian and his brother Topher on our roster.”
“Highlighting local, unappreciated talent is one of our missions,” said men’s General Manager Ira Jersey. “I think everyone will see that the talent level available in Central New Jersey is quite impressive, and Christian is a perfect example of this.”
“I’m here to win football matches,” Coridon exclaimed. “I hope the pandemic eases and fans will be able to cheer us on and celebrate with us!”
