(Ewing, NJ) - The region's newest pre-professional soccer club announced today that their inaugural women’s signing is Langhorne native Yasmeen Malik. Real Central NJ Soccer’s women's team will play in the WPSL beginning in May 2021. In January, WPSL saw 21 former players chosen in the National Women’s Soccer League 2021 draft.
“I am super excited to continue to prepare for my final season at NJIT with this inaugural team and be surrounded by other talented players in the area who will help me continue to develop this summer. I am also super excited to be surrounded by a group of new and different people for a couple of months.” said Malik .
“Yasmeen was the player at our winter tryout that all made our heads turn a bit. She played with intensity, competitiveness, confidence, and intelligence which is everything you want to see during a tryout. You could also tell she is ready to be a leader of this group from day one. I look forward to working with Yasmeen this summer and helping her prepare for another successful NJIT season.”
The 22-year-old midfielder is in her 4th year playing for New Jersey Institute of Technology and is known for her hard work and sophistication on the ball. In highschool, she received All League for her conference in 2014 and 2017. She was selected to the Bucks County Golden Team Second Team in 2014 and 2016 and received Honorable Mention in 2015. She was part of the Eastern PA Olympic Development team from 2012-2017. At NJIT, she started all of her games as a Freshman, going on to be selected into the ASUN All-Conference Freshman team in 2017 and was awarded NJIT Female Newcomer of the Year that same year. A captain for the Highlanders since 2019, she continues as a starting center midfielder onto her second to last season this Spring.

“Estoy muy emocionado de continuar preparándome para mi temporada final en NJIT con este equipo inaugural y estar rodeado por otros jugadores talentosos en la zona que me ayudarán a seguir desarrollándome este verano. También estoy muy emocionado de estar rodeado por un grupo de personas nuevas y diferentes durante un par de meses", dijo Malik
“Yasmeen fue el jugador en nuestra prueba de invierno que hizo que nuestra cabeza se volcara un poco. Jugó con intensidad, competitividad, confianza e inteligencia, que es todo lo que quieres ver durante una prueba. También podría decir que está lista para ser líder de este grupo desde el primer día. El centrocampista de 22 años está en su cuarto año jugando para el Instituto de Tecnología de Nueva Jersey y es conocido por su duro trabajo y sofisticación en el balón. En la escuela secundaria, recibió la Liga para su conferencia en 2014 y 2017. Fue seleccionada para el segundo Equipo de Oro del Condado de Bucks en 2014 y 2016 y recibió mención de honor en 2015. Fue parte del equipo de Desarrollo Olímpico de la AP Oriental desde 2012-2017. En NJIT, comenzó todos sus juegos como Freshman, pasando a ser seleccionada en el equipo DE ASUN All-Conference Freshman en 2017 y fue galardonada con NJIT Female Newcomer del año ese mismo año. Capitán de los Highlanders desde 2019, continuará como centrocampista de partida en su segunda y última temporada esta primavera.
