Kotch's hat-trick lifts Real Central over Delaware in final home WPSL match

WEST WINDSOR, NJ – Real Central NJ won their final 2026 WPSL home game 5-1 in dominating fashion against the Delaware Ospreys on Friday night. A hat trick by Player of the Match Morgan Kotch led the club to a much needed victory.

The first 15 minutes saw most of the play in the center third of the pitch with neither team claiming possession. The Delaware Ospreys were able to manage 3 chances during that spell but they were harmless.

Real Central NJ began to take command of the game in the 18th minute. The home side began bossing possession and creating chances.

Still, it was the Delaware Ospreys who struck first. In the 29th minute, Desiree Zapata controlled a pass, turned, and made a lovely pass to a streaking Gabriella Riley. Riley took two strides and fired a missile into the right-side of the net to put the Ospreys up 1-0.

But Real Central NJ responded almost immediately when Morgan Kotch picked up the first of her 3 goals in the 31st minute. Lena Madjor corralled a loose ball and passed to Kotch, who took a touch to create space and fired away from just outside the 18-yard box. Her perfectly placed attempt skipped off the deck and found the left side of the net to equalize the score at 1-1.

Then Real Central NJ took the game by the scuff of the neck. The chances started coming faster until the 37th minute when Kotch headed in her second goal from a free kick by Ava Fox to give her team a 2-1 advantage at the break.

The second half started with more of the same when Lena Madjor put her head on a tantalizing, bouncing ball in the danger area. Madjor’s header made its way over the line to make the advantage 3-1 for Real Central NJ. 

Any doubt about the outcome of the game ended in 48th minute when Desiree Zapate had to leave the game. Zapate was impressive in the first half by making hard, charging runs with the ball. After Zapata’s exit, the Delaware Ospreys were forced to play the rest of the match with 10 players because they were without a substitute.

Adriana Salzano scored Real Central NJ’s fourth goal in the 67th minute when she pounced on a loose ball from the penalty spot. A corner kick into the mixer created the chance and Salzano completed it to make it 4-1. Set pieces were kind to Real Central NJ in this one as they led to three of their goals.

Kotch completed her hat trick in the 74th minute when Ava Fox sent a beautiful ball into the box. The Villanova University player chested down the pass and calmly shot the ball into the left-side of the net to make it 5-1. 

Real Central NJ saw out the rest of the game to complete the win. They used their player advantage effectively as Delaware Ospreys could only manage one second half chance.

Besides the obvious contributions of Kotch, Lena Madjor also had a productive game. Madjor, from the University of Scranton, had a goal and an assist to help Real Central NJ’s cause.

The win was just what the doctor ordered for Real Central NJ who were coming off three consecutive 2-1 defeats. The positive result pushed their record to 3-0-3 with 9 points on the season.

As mentioned earlier, Real Central NJ will finish the 2026 WPSL campaign on the road. They have two more games remaining with the first on Thursday, June 25, against Fever SC. The WPSL season finale for Real Central NJ is set for Saturday, June 27, at SJEB FC.
