SOGGY NIGHT SEES RCNJ MEN FALL TO TOP OF TABLE WEST CHESTER UNITED

(Central Jersey) - The Real Central NJ Soccer (RCNJ) men’s USL2 team fought hard in the pouring rain in a 3-0 loss in a rematch against West Chester United SC on Friday, May 28th. After defeating Philadelphia Lone Stars FC, the RCNJ men had their moments behind a Player of the Match performance by Lou Liedtka.

“Definitely could get better, but I have to do better with my feet, distribution, and decision-making,” said Lou Leidtka (goalkeeper) after the match.

“To their credit, they were very good and very tough defensively, and we couldn’t find any answers,” said men’s head coach Patrick Snyder. “I tried to get a couple more creative players on, and the rhythm started to flow and a few things started to change for us, but still didn’t get where we wanted to be. We saw a few things and some things that will help us for our next match”

The best chance of the night for Real Central NJ came in the 78th minute from a spectacular long-distance effort by Walter Barreto. The Coridon brothers linked for another great chance in the 40th minute. Ethan Shaw and Jayce Orvos also had their share of chances early in the first half but were unable to convert. Later in the game, RCNJ was able to combine for a few nice passes to create quality chances, but could not find the back of the net.

Defensively, Real Central NJ fought hard against numerous attacks by West Chester United SC. Late in the game, goalkeeper Lou Leidtka made an impressive acrobatic save that earned him the title, “Player of the Match.”

Real Central NJ Soccer will be finishing up their five-match homestand next week. The men will be playing Evergreen FC at 7 pm on Wednesday, June 2nd, while the women will play Calcio at 7 pm on Friday, June 4th.
