REAL CENTRAL NJ SOCCER MEN SET TO FACE OCEAN CITY NOR’EASTERS IN MAY 21ST HOME OPENER

Real Central New Jersey will host the Ocean City Nor’easters in its 2022 USL League Two home opener for the second year in a row. The Mid-Atlantic divisional rivalry will be played on Saturday, May 21 at Mercer County Community College, the site for all of RCNJ’s home matches. Tickets can be purchased here.

“We’re excited to meet Ocean City once again for our home opener,” said men’s General Manager Ira Jersey. “Coach Woods is building a squad we think will be competitive with every team in our division and challenge for a spot in the national playoffs.”

RCNJ missed the playoffs in its inaugural year. New head coach Brian Woods has set about rebuilding the men’s squad for the upcoming season. Woods retired as the head coach of William Patterson University’s men’s soccer program after 30 years last year and was the head coach of FC Monmouth in the NPSL from 2018 through 2021.

One of the oldest clubs in USL League Two, Ocean City often puts together strong squads. The OC Nor’Easters finished second in the division in 2021 and advanced to the second round of the USL2 Playoffs.

RCNJ will open the 2022 campaign against the Philadelphia Lone Stars at the South Philadelphia Athletic Super Site on Saturday, May 14.

USL League Two is a pre-professional soccer league that allows elite college talent to play at a highly competitive level in the off-season. Over 10 teams will compete in the 2022 season in a league known for giving players a stepping stone to the professional game, such as the MLS SuperDraft. In the 2022 MLS SuperDraft, 61% of players drafted in the first round had experience in the league. This will be the 27th season of USL League Two, formerly known as the United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League.

Individual match-day tickets can be purchased tickets for the 2022 season as well as season memberships which give access to all matches as well as special events and club discounts.
