(Central Jersey) - The region's newest pre-professional soccer club announced today that their inaugural women’s signing is Princeton native Devon Lis. Real Central NJ Soccer’s women's team will play in the WPSL beginning in May 2021. In January, WPSL saw 21 former players chosen in the National Women’s Soccer League 2021 draft.

“I am so excited to continue to grow as a player this summer with the inaugural team and cannot wait to play with other women from the area!” said Lis.

“Devon is going to be an extremely impactful player for us during the inaugural WPSL season. Her youth experience at Princeton High School, Matchfit, and now playing in the Big East at Georgetown University is the big game impact we will need to be successful on the field. I am excited to watch her play for Georgetown this spring and help her continue to grow as a player!” said women’s Head Coach, Brian Thomsen.

The 20 year-old defender is in her 3rd year playing for Georgetown University. As a sophomore at Georgetown University, Devon appeared in 19 games for the Hoyas. She scored the first goal of her career in a 4-3 overtime win against Princeton and took nine shots on the season. Prior to Georgetown, Devon served as a captain on her club team, Matchfit Academy ECNL, and high school team, Princeton High School. She is a two-time First Team All-County and All-State selection (2016 and 2017) and two-time recipient of the Mercer “33” Award. She played for Region One ODP from 2015-16 and the N.J ODP from 2012-19.

“The caliber of the team continues to grow with Devon joining the club. Our goal is to showcase the tremendous soccer talent hailing from Central Jersey and Devon’s high-school, ODP, academy & college accomplishments certainly achieve that goal” said Ben Chrnelich, General Manager of the Woman’s Program.
