(Central Jersey) - The Real Central NJ Soccer (RCNJ) men’s team fought hard in a competitive 2-2 draw against Reading United on Wednesday, June 16th. After suffering a defeat to Northern Virginia FC, the RCNJ men played well behind a “Player of the Match” performance by Wesley Leggett.

“We started off slow, but as the game progressed we were able to adjust to the way Reading played,” said Wesley Leggett, attacker, after the match.

“I thought it was a pretty evenly matched game; I think both sides had to make a few adjustments throughout the course of the game to try and counter what the other side was doing,” said men’s head coach Patrick Snyder.

Real Central NJ started the game off slow, but the defense was able to stay strong and stop numerous chances for Reading United. Goalkeeper, Jake Langley, played well with his fair share of saves, including an incredible kick save in the eighty-third minute which was awarded “Save of the Match” and helped secure the 2-2 result.

On the attacking side, RCNJ was able to create multiple high-quality chances, ultimately leading to two goals scored. The first came from a penalty that was calmly placed into the side netting by forward, Ibrahima Diop, in the forty-fifth minute. The second goal came from a beautiful team play that led to a cross by Justin Brunow, connecting with Christian Coridon, who headed the ball to Wesley Leggett. Once the ball reached his feet, Leggett quickly fired a shot into the back of the net to equalize in the eighty-first minute.

The Real Central NJ Soccer men’s team will be home once again on Saturday, June 19th at 7 pm. The women are next at home on Sunday, June 20th at 6 pm for their final regular-season home match of the season. The men’s last home game will take place on Wednesday, June 30th at 7 pm.
