ABOUT THE ROLE

Do you love soccer? Do you want to be a part of something big and help build your local club to the next level? Are you a good communicator who understands different social media channels and how to use them to engage with fans?


Our amateur soccer team seeks a social media content creator to work with our founders and partners to grow and improve our social media presence. Your central goal is to help grow our brand’s influence locally while increasing brand loyalty and awareness. 


You must be able to work independently, but, don't worry, you won't go it alone -- we're a tight group of passionate professionals who all support each other to be successful as a team! 


Duties are to primarily develop a regular social media presence by attending training and matches year-round and publishing channel-appropriate content to build our audience and their engagement. While this will mostly focus on short-form writing and content development, you will also develop writing skills in longer-format press releases, match summaries, player biographies, and feature pieces to post online, send to local media outlets, and appear on the RCNJ website. This role interacts with news outlets and contacts media to get players, coaches and staff interviewed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the CMO to finalize our year-round social media content strategy and content planning framework

  • Celebrate fans, players, partners, and our club across our social media channels using written, photographic, and video content that you'll create (examples include highlights, player and coach interviews, and other posts to engage local soccer fans)

  • Engage our community and attract new fans using our mission and stories, and

  • Work with our CMO and ownership team, as well as other match-day team members, to create new and innovative ideas for content and engagement. 

  • Write and create news/blog posts to promote Real Central NJ Soccer players and coaches

  • Be proactive and develop/maintain quality relationships with members of the media

  • Support RCNJ Management and staff in preparation for interviews and media appearances

  • Organize promotional events and press conferences

  • Analyze media coverage and develop responses when needed

  • Keep annual calendars of events, targets, and activities organized and updated

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Motivated soccer enthusiast; a self-starter able to work independently and within a team environment

  • Strong content creation skills; highly creative and able to produce branded written, photographic, and video content

  • Desire to be an essential brand communicator and community builder

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Able to multitask and monitor several content channels

  • Takes initiative to develop new strategies and outside-the-box ideas

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

Schedule

  • Flexible hours as you work toward objectives

  • In-person for match day and other events, otherwise work remotely 

  • August through mid-April (off-season): 5 hrs/wk

  • Mid-April through July: (peak season): 20 hrs/wk
