ABOUT THE ROLE

Our pre-professiona/amateurl soccer team seeks a Public Relations/Social Media volunteer to work with our founders and partners during our fourth year. Your central goal is to help grow our brand’s influence locally while increasing brand loyalty and awareness. In this role, you will connect with local media outlets of all types to share RCNJ Soccer’s mission, stories, and more. In addition to being an outstanding communicator, the volunteer will also demonstrate excellent interpersonal and analytical skills, plus the ability to work independently.

Duties include developing a regular social media presence, attend trainings and matches year round to maintain an active social media presence, and writing various public relations pieces to build club awareness throughout the year such as press releases, match summaries, player biographies, and feature pieces to post online and sent to local media outlets and to appear on the RCNJ website. This role interacts with news outlets and contacts media to get players, coaches and staff interviewed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Write and create blog posts to promote Real Central NJ Soccer players and coaches

  • Create a calendar for RCNJ content with our Marketing Director which will include various blog posts, press releases, and media content

  • Generate social media content including highlights, player and coach interviews, and other posts to engage local soccer fans

  • Liaise with the Social Media team to market RCNJ and the content you create

  • Develop and produce high-quality, informative, and interesting press releases, press kits, and related materials

  • Be proactive and develop/maintain quality relationships with members of the media

  • Support RCNJ Management and staff in preparation for interviews and media appearances

  • Organize promotional events and press conferences

  • Coordinate with social media/public relations team for blog and social media posts concerning new corporate and community partners

  • Analyze media coverage and develop responses when needed

  • Keep annual calendars of events, targets, and activities organized and updated

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong copywriting and content creation skills

  • Self-starter able to work independently and within a team environment

  • Able to multitask and monitor several projects

  • Takes initiative to develop new strategies and outside-the-box ideas

  • Highly creative with outstanding analytical abilities.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Love of soccer a plus
