ABOUT THE ROLE

Our start up pre-professional soccer team is seeking an unpaid Public Relations & Social Media Intern to work with our founder, management and partners on all aspects of our public relations during our second summer season. In this half-time position (16+/hr a week), you will be responsible for all aspects of our public relations. Your central goal is to help grow our brand’s influence locally while also increasing brand loyalty and awareness. Our ideal candidates have interest in public relations and communications in sharing RCNJ stories. In addition to being an outstanding communicator, interns will also demonstrate excellent interpersonal and analytical skills.

Duties include developing and writing various public relations pieces such as press releases, match recaps and feature pieces to be posted online and sent to local media outlets. The intern will interact with news outlets, help edit short videos to send to local online and terrestrial outlets, and contact media to get players, coaches and staff interviewed. The position is unpaid and for credit internships preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and oversee all aspects of our digital marketing department including our marketing database, email, and display advertising campaigns.

  • Develop and monitor campaign budgets.

  • Plan and manage our social media platforms.

  • Design and update club website.

  • Help choose brand name and design elements with founder, management and partners.

  • Prepare accurate reports on our marketing campaign’s overall performance.

  • Coordinate with advertising and media experts to improve marketing results.

  • Evaluate important metrics that affect our website traffic, service quotas, and target audience.

  • Work with the team to brainstorm new and innovative growth strategies.Assist with development of public relations strategies for current and existing products, launches, and promotions

  • Create a calendar for RCNJ  content which will include various blog posts, press releases, and media content

  • Create social media content during eleven home games

  • Develop and produce high-quality, informative, and interesting press releases, press kits, and related materials

  • Write match recaps for all games and feature material for website

  • Maintain proactive relationships with members of the media

  • Support RCNJ Management in preparation of interviews and press conferences

  • Organize promotional events and press conferences

  • Analyze media coverage and develop responses when needed

  • Assist Marketing Director with management of our social media platforms

  • Assist Marketing Director with updates to club website

  • Keep annual calendars of events, targets, and activities organized and updated
